Volunteering at Local Aid

Thank you! Volunteers are vital to Local Aid's success. Each month,
more than 20 volunteers log from 200 to 250 hours working for Local
Aid.
Volunteer opportunities
We currently need:
- A volunteer to "shop" for perishables at FOOD for Lane County's warehouse (770 Bailey Hill Road, Eugene)
each Monday at 1 p.m. Volunteers do not need to go to Junction City.
Duties: Select and weigh cooler items, bread, produce and pastry for Local Aid's truck pickup at 2 p.m.
No more than one hour each week should be required, and training will be provided. Click
here for contact
information if you are interested.
- Food pantry volunteers to assist clients in
selecting food for monthly emergency food boxes. No heavy
lifting is required, just a friendly manner and an ability to
help people limit their selections within guidelines. Right now,
we have an urgent need for more Tuesday volunteers.
- Client reception volunteers to work in our
front office, receiving clients and assisting them in applying
for help or signing up for current services.
- Volunteers to keep pantry shelves stocked,
store food in the pantry's storage areas, repackage bulk foods,
and do other tasks to keep the pantry clean and functional.
Some lifting is required for this kind of work.
- A grass-roots fund-raising coordinator, who
would be able to take the initiative in organizing fund-raising
events such as local benefit dinners, "spare change" jars around
town, bottle-recycling efforts and the like.
- Volunteers to act as liaisons between their
church, organization or workplace and Local Aid.
We also enjoy having groups volunteer, for special events such as
Scouts or Post Office food drives, and for our annual Christmas box
event in December. If your church, youth group, club or business is
interested in group volunteering for a special event, do
call us.
