Local Aid Lacking in Donations, Funding and Volunteers, Tri-County News, August 18, 2008
Local Aid relies entirely on donations to fund its operations. In addition to food donations, Local Aid needs actual dollars to support its non-food programs—dental care, energy bill assistance, prescription drugs and others. In addition, Local Aid must pay rent and utilities on the Local Aid facility, cover the salary of our part-time Executive Director, provide for trucking costs for our weekly food order from FOOD for Lane County and purchase supplies to support our operations. Your dollar contribution will be greatly appreciated, well-spent in service to our clients, and tax-deductible (Local Aid is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation).
To donate, please send your check to
Junction City Local Aid
P.O. Box 493
Junction City, OR 97448
or bring it into our office during our business hours.
Or, consider designating Local Aid for a donation during the annual United Way drive at your place of work.
We are glad to receive donations of non-perishable foods. Bring
them by our
pantry during business hours. Remember we can't accept opened
packages, food past its sell-by date, and home-canned items.
Favorite items include pasta, canned stews and meals, cake mixes,
Jell-O, and rice. Click "Our Current Shopping List" on the right
side of this page for the latest information on our
current needs. You may be interested to know that summer is the
time when our food supply and food donations are the lowest!
We also love to get fresh garden produce and eggs. You can drop fresh items off at our pantry during business hours, preferably Tuesday or Wednesday (perishables dropped off on Thursdays are more likely to go unused, since most of our clients visit on Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
Gently used and clean donated clothing is made available to all of our clients. We can't accept household goods, furniture items or appliances (except for good, working refrigerators and freezers that we can use in the pantry. Please call us if you have such an item to donate).
